The Lasting Alternative to LASIK: But Don't Just Take Our Word for It.

For many adults 45+, refractive lens exchange means freedom from glasses and readers — performed in our own private, in-office operating rooms, and you'll never develop cataracts in the treated eye.

Is RLE Right For You?

Especially made for these patients.

Not a LASIK candidate

Thin corneas, a high prescription, or dry eyes can rule out LASIK — RLE often works beautifully where LASIK can't.

Your LASIK or PRK is wearing off

Had LASIK in your 20s or 30s and now, in your 40s or 50s, your vision is changing again? You're far from alone — a lens exchange is often the next step.

Younger with a high prescription

For patients 25+ who want LASIK-style freedom but aren't ideal candidates, an implantable collamer lens (ICL) may be the answer.

Why RLE

Beyond LASIK — a permanent fix for aging eyes.

LASIK reshapes the cornea, but it can't stop the natural lens from aging. RLE replaces that lens entirely with a premium implant.

  • Reduces dependence on glasses and reading glasses
  • Prevents future cataracts in the treated eye
  • Premium multifocal & extended-depth lens options
  • Performed in our private, in-office operating rooms

You are never sent off to a hospital or a shared outpatient surgery center. Your consultation, diagnostics, and procedure all happen under one roof — in a premium facility built specifically for eye surgery. It's the nicest facility in the region, and it's ours.

Common Questions

What patients ask us most.

How is RLE different from LASIK?

LASIK reshapes the cornea; RLE replaces the eye's natural lens with a premium implant. RLE addresses aging vision (presbyopia) and prevents future cataracts — something LASIK can't do.

My LASIK is wearing off — is RLE the next step?

Often, yes. Many patients who had LASIK or PRK in their 20s or 30s find their vision changing again in their 40s and 50s as the natural lens ages. RLE addresses the lens itself, which LASIK never touched.

Will I ever get cataracts after RLE?

No. Because the natural lens is replaced with an artificial one, a cataract cannot form in the treated eye.
